The Chemists Gallery (Galerie u chemiku)
The gallery started its activity by an opening day of the exhibition by photographer Pavel Ondruska on November 14, 1995. Since then a number of professional and amateur artists have exhibited on the area of 5 x 7 m. Among them photographers, painters, costume designers, pupils of basic art school. We had an occasion to see the exhibition of scene designs by Alexandr Babraj and/or models by the Hata fashion house. How did the idea of opening a gallery at our technical school arise? It was just the fact that our school is a technical school. We have always wanted our students to be not only educated but also to obtain a positive approach to arts. We would like to help them to develop their personalities in the whole extent. We aim to form a young man who is both a specialist in his branch and familiar with other areas.
The first year of an author photographic competition of the students and employees of our school took place this year. We would like to encourage the young generation in creative activities, to teach them walking with the open eyes and discovering the beauty surrounding them. The competition met with a good response and a lot of unique photographs were presented. The next year of the competition is projected at the beginning of the next school year. The gallery space is not strictly devoted to the plastic arts but it also enables to present e.g. environmental and antidrug projects. New people interested in exhibiting in our gallery are welcome and everybody is invited to our future events.
